Motorsport UK is the national governing body for four-wheel motorsport in the UK, operating as a not-for-profit organisation. They represent a vibrant community of around 30,000 competition licence holders, 9,500 dedicated volunteer marshals and officials, and oversee roughly 5,000 motorsport events annually. Their mission is clear: to deliver world-class motorsport experiences in a modern, forward-thinking, and efficient way, ensuring enjoyment for everyone involved across the UK.
When we first started working with Motorsport UK, their online presence was limited, with only a small portion of their daily transactions available through the website. A key issue was the inability to renew licenses online, which led to significant manual duplication of effort. Many clubs were not logging in to manage permits online, which compounded the inefficiency. They approached us with a clear goal in mind: to improve the user experience and drive more traffic to their site by offering a seamless and automated solution.
To solve this, they required a partner who could create a bespoke system that not only improved functionality but also integrated smoothly with their existing CRM. The goal was to synchronise their previously stored user data with a new, more efficient system. We decided to leverage Umbraco’s CMS capabilities to build a platform that was both user-friendly and capable of handling complex integrations. The key challenge was ensuring that the portal was easy to use for members while also automating processes that had previously been done manually.
By decoupling key features and aligning them with MSA's requirements, we were able to create a more cohesive and automated solution. This significantly reduced the need for manual data entry and improved the overall experience for their users. The result was a platform that not only streamlined operations but also allowed MSA to enhance their online services and boost traffic to their website, all while improving operational efficiency.
We mapped out the existing processes and got a better understanding of the client and how they needed it to work. We took our learnings from the mapping process and created a system within Umbraco that allowed members to fully manage their licensing needs and associated clubs through an online portal.
The solution also offers an intuitive backend for the client so they can easily manage their members' access to the portal, as well as update the content available to their members,
all whilst integrating with their CRM to ensure any updates were automatically implemented across the system.
We are still implementing improvements to the system, however, user engagement and licence renewals have already seen a massive increase.
