What are our Umbraco Support options?

Our two Umbraco Support options allow you to choose which best fits your website's needs.

 

PAYG

You only pay for the amount of hours that you use each month. Using this method allows you to avoid monthly payment instalments if you fear that you won't make use of all the hours available. You still get the same level of service as a fixed hours option, however, a PAYG agreement will typically come at a higher day rate.

 

RETAINED HOURS

You pay a fixed monthly fee which provides you with a set amount of hours per month. Should anything go wrong with your platform, you have an agency on hand who is able to fix the issue for you within a predefined time frame.

What are Common Umbraco Support Requests?

Throughout the years, we have noticed a common trend of tickets from our clients and have listed these to help you identify if your site is having similar issues.

 

SSL Certificates

Adding an SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate to your website ensures users data is secure. These certificates encrypt data transferred between the user's browser and the web server, ensuring personal data like passwords and personal information is protected. They also have SEO benefits such as reduced bounce rates.

 

Redirects

A common request we get asked by clients is to fix redirects from their site. Redirects are links that are turned away from the original page they linked to and directed to another page. Having too many of these can have negative implications on SEO. These redirects come in different variants, from permanent 301 redirects to temporary 307 redirects.

 

404 errors

Similar to redirects, 404 errors have a negative impact on a page's SEO as search engines may waste time crawling these 404 pages instead of your valuable pages, which can reduce crawl efficiency. Users can't access the information they are looking for, which, similar to SSL Certificates, increases bounce rate. The site can also look unprofessional, making for a loss of trust and damage to the brand reputation.

 

Generic bug - visual or graphical bug

Generic issues, such as visual or graphical bugs can be fixed through our support services. For example, if a page shows as the incorrect colour, this can be amended.

 

Umbraco patches

Umbraco has many versions and in between these versions, patches are made. This is a small update to mitigate any potential vulnerabilities or issues. We regularly install these patches for clients.

 

Fixing speed issues

Check if your website speed is slow through a lighthouse report. You can do this by right clicking on your website and inspecting the page. On the navigation bar at the top click the arrows and select lighthouse. Begin the report using the blue button for either mobile or desktop. We would recommend that your site speed should be between 85 and 100. 

Fixing API errors 

Installing APIs on your website can add hundreds of functions to your site. However, these APIs can be tricky to install and sometimes even break while installed. Our developers can fix these issues and mitigate the consequences by inspecting the code.

 

Pop up banners

Many of our clients request the creation of pop up banners. These are a prompt to check if you have found everything you need from the page. We create these through components that can then be reused for future promotions.

 

Adding discount code functionality

During promotional times, clients will look to put discounts on their website, to help push sales. There are multiple ways to approach this. We would recommend either adding the discount to either the entire basket, or a specific product discount. 

 

Adding + removing ga4 scripts

This is a simple request, however it’s incredibly important in the grand scheme of your website. These are basic HTML changes, to ensure that you are able to track your customer’s movements through your website.

 

Updating IP whitelisting

IP whitelisting is used to only allow/block a certain user's visibility of a website/web page. You would make use of this in a scenario where you are putting sensitive information on the website, or trying to avoid malicious attacks.
